Answers:
  1. Which type of rug is best for durability in a high traffic household?
  2. A lot will depend on your living habits (i.e., wearing shoes inside, how close the runners are to the outside elements, pets and children, etc). The higher the density of the rug, the better it will perform.

  3. What is the proper width of a stair runner?
  4. The proper width of your runner is determined by the width of your wood stair treads. For example, if from one side wall of your home to the ballisters measures 39", a 26", 27" or 30" width is perfect. When your stairs are 40"+, we recommend several different width options starting at 31" and wider. 5" to 7" is a good amount of wood to have showing on each side.

  5. How long does an order usually take from placing the order to the installation + completion?

  7. Which is better, a wool or synthetic runner - What is the "T" Rating
  8. The "T" Rating is the Wear Factor the Higher the number the better.:
    T-8 - Very Good Performance:
    T-7 - Good Performance:
    T-6 - Average Performance:
    T-5 - Below Average Performance:
    T-4 - Bench mark grade:
    T-3 - Fair Performance:
    T-2 - Below Fair Performance:

When comparing a wool runner to a synthetic runner, you must look at 3 important points:

1)Density of fiber (Ex. 800,000pts Wool vs. 1.5 million pts Synthetic ).

2)Type of material, i.e. New Zealand Wool vs. Olefin.

3)Pile Height. If the pile height is too high and/or loose, your runner can mat down faster.

  9. What kind of pad (if any) do I need?
  10. The pad is a very important part of your rug purchase. It will help your rug to maintain its original appearance. We recommend a synthetic pad with a very scratchy top surface (to grab the back of the runner or rug) with a layer of rubber attached to the bottom so that it won't slide on your wood floors or damage the finish. The pad will absorb a lot of the weight applied to the surface of your runner, thus preventing matting and crushing of your pile.
